Challenge the most experienced and daring charterers with the most thrilling and off the beaten track adventures aboard your yacht.

Get ready to unfurl the sails and cruise off into the sunset with these top five exciting charter destinations.

1.    Kamchatka
Located in the Russian Far East, the 1,250-kilometre Kamchatka peninsula is located between the Sea of Okhotsk to the west, and the Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea to the East. Described as yachting’s final frontier, this Unesco-protected volcanic land of fire and ice, tests its explorers to the very limit. If you truly want to get away from the world, then this is the place for you.

Superyachts are seldom seen in this frontier town, so book early to get a place on one of the few charter yachts that ventures to the area. One such vessel is the 77-metre expedition yacht La Datcha built by Damen Yachting and chartered through Edmiston. The perfect launch pad for adventures into the rugged hinterland, charterers can navigate up the raging Mutnovsky river, which runs between two beautiful mountain ranges either side and ends in the Klyuchevskaya Volcano. The peninsula, which features 127 volcanoes, 22 of which, such as Volcano Gorely or Volcano Avachinsky, are still active, can be viewed via your charter yacht's helicopter.

Guests can bathe midstream in the Mutnovsky river, dip in a volcanic spring at the Valley of Geysers, or take a wildlife safari to spot marmot, lynx, brown bears or arctic foxes. If you’re lucky, you might even see migrating pods of humpback or blue whale from the deck of your superyacht or tender. A place of extraordinary primal beauty, ice-capped peaks and raging volcanoes, Kamchatka is certainly not a place for the faint hearted.

2.    Cuba
Somewhat different to the land of fire and ice, are the white sand shores of the often-overlooked Caribbean Island, Cuba, where Varadero is located, one of the five most beautiful beaches on earth. With 3,000 miles of pristine coastline, elegant baroque architecture, and charming rumba beat, Cuba has only recently opened its untouched bays to adventurous superyacht charterers.

With a vibrant mix of serene beauty, bustling colonial cities like Havana with all night parties, and jungles with hidden cenotes to swim in, Cuba is a place that really has it all. With over 4,000 coral atolls and bays, this near-forgotten Caribbean paradise, has the world's third largest barrier reef, now over 500 years old, where it is possible to see an abundance of wildlife ranging from whale sharks to sea turtles, and even salt water alligators.

Dive into the greatest natural treasures of Maria La Gorda, legendary Caribbean pirates’ base – in the real west of Cuba. From here guests can visit the tobacco plantation by Cubata Cigars, where cigars are specially made to resist weather conditions aboard your yacht, for an exquisite and memorable tasting at sunset.

Cayo Largo del Sur, a small island known for its long white sandy beaches and Playa Tortuga, with a centre for the protection and breeding of endangered sea turtles, will feed you with unforgettable memories from Cuba.
Guests can visit the charming town of Baracoa, which was only accessible by yacht until the 1960s, to explore the imposing mountains and rainforest. Or put on those hiking boots to explore the trails of El Yunque nature reserve and find the many magnificent waterfalls. To book a charter vacation in this up-and-coming paradise before the crowds follow, you can head to charter brokerage company IYC to find out more.

3.    Northwest Passage
If you really want to go above and beyond to find one of the most spectacular and exclusive superyacht charters in the world, then look no further than the Northwest Passage. Starting in Greenland, moving through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, and finishing along the northern shores of Alaska, this passage is one of the most legendary waterways on the planet and a long-held dream of many daring explorers. Only 300 vessels have completed this route in full, but you can add your name to the list of people who have done at least part of the route, by chartering with brokerage Fraser Yachts.

Accessible only when the ice melts for a short period of the year, you will sail through grand fjords, surrounded by jagged mountainous peaks and floating icebergs. Stop at historical sites along the way, go dog-sledding in Greenland, sail by the rarely visited Inuit communities and learn about their unique culture, and stand on your yachts flybridge to spot signs of narwhals, walruses or even polar bears. When chartering vessels with helicopters, guests can take in the sights from a magnificent aerial perspective.

There is no denying that this is the ultimate charter for even the most daring adventurers, and if you’re lucky, you might even see the Northern Lights whilst sipping on a hot chocolate and gazing up at the night sky.

4.    Solomon Islands
For another off the beaten track charter destination, one cannot overlook the beautiful Solomon Islands in the South Pacific Ocean. Unspoiled and untouched by modern influences, this undiscovered archipelago remains much the same as it did centuries ago.

Famed for its unrivalled diving sites, visitors can scuba dive to World War II shipwrecks at Bonegi whilst glimpsing stunning sea life all around. Explore the volcanic islands, croc-infested mangroves, stunning lagoons and tropical bays on this relaxed and happy island archipelago. Immerse yourself in local communities or work with rangers to tag turtles in an effort to protect the local ecology.

Book ahead for your charter vacation in this tropical paradise with YachtZoo

5.    Patagonia
Patagonia, covering the southernmost tip of Argentina and Chile, is the ultimate destination to visit from the luxurious comfort of your expedition superyacht. This relatively untouched landscape is captured on the backdrop of snow-peaked mountains, expansive glaciers, and scenic coastline.

Charter with Camper & Nicholson to take you into the glacial waters where you can float between endless fjords. Experience the extreme and go hiking in Argentina’s Laguna Torre, or kayaking through its many rivers and fjords, or go ice-trekking on the Perito Moreno Glacier - the most accessible and impressive glacier, but not for the faint hearted!

To visit the penguins, head to Punta Tombo in September before they migrate north to Brazil, or the Magellan Strait in Chile to see them in full action. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the elusive Puma, Patagonia’s only big cat, or take a wildlife safari in Chile’s Parque Nacional.
