Quantum is shaping the future of marine stabilization with solutions that require less energy to achieve the same results. Stabilizers use a tremendous amount of power to operate, ranked as the 2nd energy consumer on board. With a heightened awareness on sustainability, Quantum was driven to not only lower the power consumption, but also explore energy recovery options.
Introducing the new F45 Hybrid Electric/Hydraulic Power System with 60% greater efficiencies at zero speed and an 80% recovery rate underway. Furthermore, a traditional hydraulic system must remain running at 40% capacity at idle versus only 1 kW at idle for the F45.
For vessels between 40-65m, Quantum has introduced a fully electric stabilizer, the e-FIN. Completely free of hydraulic oil, the e-FIN is considerably more efficient due to the use of capacitors for power storage. A key advantage is that the system can be charged when the fin movement is low, and can discharge energy to the motor when fin movement increases. In underway mode, the fins generate power that can be stored for future use.
These new products demonstrate the impact of improved power management, with results changing marine stabilization.
