Parallel hybrid system offers modes, including full electric motor propulsion, diesel engine propulsion and both of them. There are modes for powering the boats.
To summarize environmentally friendly approaches:
Zero-Emission Mode: Sea-trials are started with fully loaded batteries (50 min. for fully charged), batteries supply the energy to activate electric motors. System is absolutely silent and there is no fuel consumption and so emission.
If more speed and power necessary, you can apply Economy Navigation and Diesel-Electric Navigation Mode
Diesel-Electric Mode: Generator produce necessary energy to activate electric motors.
Economy Mode: One side gets the necessary energy is form diesel engine, other side gets from electric motor. At this system diesel fuel consumption savings of 30%.
Shaft Alternator the main diesel propulsion motors are on and provide propulsion while the electric motors generate the power needed to recharge batteries to 90% in 30 min. and for hotel loads while the generator is off.
The lithium batteries can meet the boat's non-propulsion energy needs for 12 hours. Generator can provide the energy needed to charge the boat's batteries within 50 min.
